Summer Edwards, BA (she/her/hers)—I am an LPC intern completing my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling but I have been practicing in the healthcare industry for over 10 years. I believe you cannot control what life throws at you, but you control your thoughts and attitude. I want to help clients find meaning in experiences and learn to view life through a lens of hope and positivity. I adapt my therapeutic approach to each client’s needs, often using existential and narrative therapy. These approaches focus on recognizing that while we may not control life’s events or others’ actions, we can influence our own perspectives and the narratives we create around our experiences.
As a mother of two, my journey has given me a unique and personal understanding of the complexities and joys of parenthood. My youngest son, borna micro-preemie, has faced significant medical challenges, including a cancer diagnosis. These experiences allow me to connect deeply with my clients, especially those navigating the complex world of special needs and chronic illness. My own difficulty finding a knowledgeable therapist during these times inspired me to pursue this path to support others who may feel isolated in their journey.
